Division I Hilltoppers claim 1-0 win against Colonels

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Centre women's soccer stepped up in competition Saturday afternoon, falling by a narrow 1-0 score against NCAA Division I Western Kentucky at the Hilltopper's Soccer Complex.
 
The Colonels (0-1-1) surrendered an early goal to the Hilltoppers (4-2-0), but kept the home side without a score for over 84 minutes of game time.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- WKU's Brina Micheels found the back of the net less than eight minutes into the contest.
- Jonelle Barron recorded five saves for the remainder of the half to keep the score at 1-0.
- Centre limited WKU's attack in the second half, holding the 'Toppers to just four shots and two on goal – both of which were stopped by Sarah Stodghill.
- The Colonels' own attack was stifled, however, as lone attempt from Annabel Justice was the only shot in the second half.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- WKU had 15 shots to Centre's three. The Hilltoppers also held a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.
 
UP NEXT
The Colonels have their home and conference opener next Saturday, March 13, hosting Berry at 3 p.m. at Amend Field.
