SUNDAY
The Colonels (2-0) took on Southern Athletic Association associate-member Concordia Wisconsin (0-2) Sunday to close the weekend, winning by a 4-2 final.
Prior to the game, they celebrated the careers of seniors
Sarah Biggs,
Mackenzie Conkling,
Emily Fry,
Katie Jenkins,
Alana Pugh and
Kara Tipton.
Biggs wasted no time putting the home side in front, scoring 74 seconds into the game to make it 1-0.
That margin held into the halftime break, as the Colonels kept the Falcons without a shot attempt across the first and second quarters.
Jenkins scored twice in the third period within a four-minute stretch, the second coming off an assist from Biggs.
Jenkins scored again late in the fourth to complete her first career hat trick, again with Biggs providing the helper.
The Falcons finally got on the board in the fourth quarter, but it was too late for a true comeback bid.
Centre out-shot CUW 22-3, putting 18 shots on goal.
Sienna Joseph and
Elizabeth Solomon each played half of the game in goal for the Colonels.
