Softball swept in Sunday twin bill at Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Centre softball fell by scores of 3-2 and 5-1 Sunday at Rhodes, competing in one Southern Athletic Association game followed by a non-conference contest.

The Colonels drop to 3-17 overall and 3-9 in the SAA, while the host Lynx move to 14-14 overall and 4-8 against conference opposition.

GAME ONE: Rhodes 3, Centre 2
- Centre struck first Saturday, as Sarah Fly drove in Brylin Isaacs in the top of the first.
- The Lynx scored runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings, however, gradually building a lead while their starter Lauren King kept the Colonels' bats quiet. King also helped her own cause with a solo homer in the second inning for Rhodes' first run.
- Rookie Loran Trent led off the seventh with a homerun – the first of her collegiate career – but the Colonels were unable to get another run across.
- Amanda Morgan tossed all six innings for Centre, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out four.

GAME TWO: Rhodes 5, Centre 1
- The Colonels again scored first in Saturday's non-conference finale. Kaylee Gregory singled to right to drive in Trent, who had reached on an infield single.
- After throwing two clean innings, Lucy Baseheart was tagged for a run by the Lynx in the third.
- Rhodes scored again in the fifth, and widened the lead more in the sixth with a trio of runs.
