MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the sixth consecutive season, Centre women's soccer completed an undefeated, untied season in the Southern Athletic Association as they defeated the Rhodes Lynx 2-0 in the regular season finale.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The first half of the contest saw Centre get a few scoring chances in the early minutes, but unable to convert.
- At the 27-minute mark of the first half, the Lynx had what turned out to be their only scoring opportunity of the match, but
Sarah Stodghill stoned the attempt by Rhodes's Alli Cundiff and the game remained scoreless.
- With seven minutes left until halftime, the Colonels drew a Rhodes penalty and
Kristin Dean converted the ensuing penalty kick to put Centre on the board for the first time.
- In the second half, the Colonels controlled the possession throughout and quickly put the contest away six minutes in as
Mills Mullen found
Sarah Sirkin, who scored to put Centre up 2-0. Rhodes never attempted another shot the rest of the way as Centre kept the pressure on until the 90th minute had elapsed.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels held advantages of 11-1 in shots, 5-1 in shots on goal and 4-0 in corner kicks against the Lynx.
- Centre outscored SAA opponents 22-2 this season.
