BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Centre men's soccer suffered a 2-1 double-overtime defeat Sunday in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Championship match against Berry, played at Berylson Soccer Park.
The Colonels (4-4) – playing in their fifth straight SAA title bout – scored first against the Vikings (8-1-1), but were upended midway through the second extra session on a golden goal following a corner kick.

Sota Ippongi put the Colonels on the board in the 25th minute off a set piece, marking his third goal of the spring.

Haydon Korfhage came up with a handful of saves throughout the opening 45 minutes to help Centre maintain that 1-0 lead into the break.

Nathan Wilcox nearly doubled the Colonels' advantage early in the second period, but his headed effort was saved.
- Less than two minutes later, Berry's Aidan Hackett leveled the score with a goal.
- Centre's defense withstood a flurry of late corner kicks from the Vikings to force overtime.
- After the first extra session passed without a goal, Berry got the game-winner in the second from Nathan Carlson off a corner opportunity.
