Colonels cruise past Kenyon for third straight win

GAMBIER, Ohio – The 17th-ranked Centre field hockey team defeated Kenyon 3-0 on the road Saturday.
 
The Colonels remained undefeated with a 3-0 record, while recording their second straight shutout and sending the Ladies to 1-2.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Nearly a full quarter elapsed without a goal, but Olivia Broyles found the back of the cage in the closing seconds of the first to make it 1-0. It marked her first goal of the season.
- Neither side found a true scoring opportunity in the second quarter as the Colonels carried their lead into halftime.
- Shelby Young doubled Centre's advantage less than three minutes into the third quarter with her first goal of the season.
- Meredith Wickenheiser added an insurance goal early in the fourth to complete the scoring.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre dominated the possession, resulting in a 21-3 advantage in total shots an 8-3 edge in corner opportunities.
- Sienna Joseph and Carlie McKenry each saw time in goal for the Colonels. Neither recorded a save as the Centre defense did not allow a single shot on target.
- Maran Lee led Centre with six shots, putting three on goal.
