DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's soccer thumped visiting DePauw by a 9-0 margin Wednesday evening, scoring early and often inside Andrew P. Amend Field.
The 16th-ranked Colonels improve to 5-1-1 overall while dropping the Tigers to 1-3.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Reigning Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week,
Elizabeth Nelson, opened the scoring in the 12th minute when her corner kick glanced into the goal.
- She would double her tally just six minutes later, tapping home a well-placed pass from
Taylor Gebhart.
- In the 24th minute, the Colonels earned a penalty kick, which
Megan Sidaway converted to make it 3-0.

Brooke Smithson joined the scoring parade in the 24th minute, slicing past the defense and beating the keeper.
- Near the end of the first half,
Jess Inman scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from
Alex Barnhill.
- Smithson added to her tally and began the second half scoring in the 58th minute, again using her speed to beat a defender and finish low past the goalie.
- Barnhill would score two goals – her first of the season – 30 seconds apart in the 73rd minute. Both came off assists from
Lizzie Klehr.
- Klehr added her third assist and helped cap the scoring in the 78th minute on a pass to
Annabel Justice. It marked Justice's first goal of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre overwhelmed the possession against DePauw, resulting in a 28-3 advantage in shots. The Colonels, who put 15 shots on target, were led by Smithson's six attempts.
