Colonels close weekend with 4-0 shutout over Wittenberg

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre took care of Wittenberg, 4-0, capping a perfect opening weekend Sunday at South Turf Field.
 
The Colonels improve to 2-0 overall and send the Tigers home at 1-1.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Maran Lee opened the scoring barely five minutes in with a rocket off a corner insert from Megan Coomes.
- The Colonels continued to maintain possession into the second quarter, eventually resulting in a score from Meredith Wickenheiser that doubled the lead before halftime.
- Ellie Dunham hit the back of the cage in the third quarter, getting an assist from Kate Pilcher for her second goal of the weekend.
- Lee capped the scoring following a penalty opportunity in the fourth quarter, marking her first career two-goal outing.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre dominated possession, out-shooting Wittenberg 26-0 while putting 12 attempts on goal. The Colonels also totaled 13 penalty corners and surrendered none.
- Sienna Joseph and Carlie McKenry split time in goal for the Colonels.
