DANVILLE, Ky. – The highly anticipated match between Centre and Emory ended in a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon at Andrew P. Amend Field.
The Colonels (2-0-1) entered the season ranked No. 19 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, while the Eagles (2-0-1) were receiving votes.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The two sides battled to a stalemate in the first half, although Emory came away with more scoring opportunities.
Jonelle Barron recorded a pair of saves – including a diving effort in the 14th minute that stopped a sure goal from Lindsey Breskow.
- Both teams put one shot on goal in the second half. Centre's came from
Elizabeth Nelson in the 56th minute.
- The Colonels got some timely defensive efforts in the extra sessions, including clearances from both
Brooke Smithson and
Gabrielle Gilkison with the ball in front of goal.

- Emory out-shot Centre 16-6 but held just a 3-1 edge in shots on target.
- Barron finished with three saves in goal.
