DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre volleyball team suffered its first defeat of the 2021 season as they fell in straight sets to no. 9 Transylvania in the home opener.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Transylvania used a run of five straight points to break open a close first set, eventually winning by a score of 25-18.
- In the second set, Transy scored eight consecutive points to go up by double digits before Centre staged a rally of their own as the Colonels outscored the Pioneers 6-1 down the stretch to cut the lead to 23-19. Following a Transy timeout, the Pioneers scored the final two points to take a 25-19 win.
- The third set saw Transylvania take the early lead and gradually built it as Centre couldn't make the same run as they made in the second set. The Colonels fought off two match points before the Colonels took the final point on a 25-19 win.

Brooke Palmer led a balanced Centre scoring effort with seven kills, with
Eleanor Davis and
Ellie Driver adding six each.

Meredith Phillips led the Colonels with 16 assists.
