ATLANTA – Centre women's basketball suffered a 63-48 defeat Sunday at Oglethorpe, dropping their second Southern Athletic Association contest in a row.
The Colonels fall to 6-10 overall with a 3-2 record in the SAA. The host Stormy Petrels are 5-10 and 2-2 in-conference.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Oglethorpe held Centre to just 2-for-15 shooting during the first quarter, grabbing a 17-8 lead after a late run to end the period.

Payton Herold helped keep the Colonels afloat with a 3-for-3 effort from long range in the second quarter, scoring nine of Centre's 12 points. The Petrels would take a 33-20 advantage into the locker room.

Bailey Rucker scored five of her 13 points in the third, but the Colonels were unable to trim the deficit.
- Centre grabbed 15 boards – including eight offensive – and hit all seven of its free throws in the last quarter, but again the Petrels were able to stay ahead. Oglethorpe connected on a trio of 3-pointers to help secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Herold recorded double digits for the sixth time this season, leading the Colonels with 15 points. She added six rebounds and an assist.
- Rucker went 7 of 7 from the charity stripe, and her 13 points led all bench players. It also marked her eighth double figure scoring effort of the season.

Natalie Duggins brought in a career-high-tying 13 rebounds, leading all individuals and helping Centre finish with a 44-37 edge on the glass.
Emma Rose Vincent followed with seven boards.
- The Colonels shot just 26% (14-55) overall for the second consecutive game.
