Colonels drop third straight in loss at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – Centre women's basketball fell by a 65-49 score Friday evening in a Southern Athletic Association contest at Hendrix, playing inside Grove Gymnasium.
 
Presley Chirico turned in a double-double for the Colonels (6-11, 3-3 SAA), but the host Warriors (7-8, 1-3), pulled away in the second half to secure the victory.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Payton Herold connected on a 3-pointer to open the game and kick off an exciting, back-and-forth opening quarter, which ended with the teams tied at 17 apiece.
- The close contest continued into the second quarter. Katelyn Stiltner brought the game level at 23-23 with over five minutes remaining in the half, but a cold spell from the Colonels allowed the Warriors to grab a narrow 32-27 lead at the break.
- Hendrix began the third quarter on a 15-6 run and ultimately led 49-39 heading to the fourth. Chirico scored eight in the third period to buoy the Centre offense.
- Centre failed to cut into the deficit during the final period.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Chirico's 18-point, 11-rebound double-double was her fourth of the season.
- The Colonels were just 1-for-9 from 3-point range against the Warriors, marking the second game this season they were held to one triple.
- Hendrix also did more damage at the free throw line, converting 15 of 21 attempts to Centre's 4 of 7 effort.
- Natalie Duggins led the Colonels with 12 rebounds, improving her season average to nine boards per game.

Centre meets Rhodes Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in Memphis, Tenn. The Lynx enter the weekend atop the SAA standings with a 4-0 conference record.
