Centre field hockey wins their second game in three days

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Colonels trekked to Indiana to face the Quakers on Saturday. Centre defeated Earlham, landing four shots to their zero.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Claire Martin placed a powerful shot in the back of the cage to open the scoring for the Colonels. The first year's goal, her third of the season, resulted from a penalty corner midway through the first period.  
- Taking advantage of corners in the first half, Olivia Broyles scored Centre's second point from another penalty opportunity. 
- Ellie Dunham got a piece of the scoring action, placing the third goal for the Gold & White just minutes after the second. Going into halftime, Centre had a three-point advantage over the Quakers.  
- Returning from halftime, freshman Halle Rigden put together her first collegiate goal late in the third period, finalizing the score at 4 – 0. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels dominated on offense. With four different scorers, Centre placed four of their 18 shots attempted. Earlham attempted two shots, finishing zero. 
- Having the upper hand in penalty corners, Centre's Claire Martin and Olivia Broyles completed two goals from the team's 11 opportunities. Earlham, with two chances, placed none. 
- Ellie Dunham and Halle Rigden also took part in the scoring efforts. Dunham got on the board late in the first half, bringing the halftime score to Centre three, Earlham zero. Rigden placed her first collegiate goal in the third period off an assist from Claire Mechlin
- In goal for the Colonels, Carlie McKenry and Kate Helton split time. Both facing one shot each, together they marked a perfect game. 



UP NEXT
The Colonels will proceed to Ohio for their next competition. Facing Denison, the match will take place on Sunday, October 2, at 11:00 a.m. ET.
