Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Jake Renie, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications

Men’s soccer falls to the Vikings on the road

ROME, Ga. – After having to reschedule to a day earlier due to the incoming inclement weather of Hurricane Ian, the Centre men's soccer team (0-8-2, 0-2 SAA) visited the Berry Vikings (5-1-3, 1-1 SAA) for a Friday night showdown. Berry's offensive pressure cracked the Colonels, the Gold and White falling on a final score of 2-0.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Berry would find the lead earlier on the Colonels, scoring in the game's eighth minute off of a rebounded save from goalkeeper Aidan Hartman.
- The Colonels would amount some offense about halfway through the first half, Matthew Seran getting a shot off that helped Centre lead to two-straight corner kicks.
- The Vikings would strike again in the 62nd minute of the contest, finding the upper-right corner in the net from about 20 yards out.
- Seran would get the closest to scoring a goal for the Colonels in the final six minutes of play, his shot being saved by the keeper in the bottom center of the net.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre's four shots total in the contest is the second-lowest amount they've compiled in the 2022 season, only one of them being on-goal.
- The Colonels' defense was able to hold Berry to single-digit shots (nine) in the contest, the third time this season they've minimized their opponent's chances.
- Seran's shot-on-goal marks the second of his for the season, also totaling a season-high 64 minutes of play in the Friday night contest.

UP NEXT
The Gold and White will get the next week off as they start to think about their next weekend of the road, taking on Rhodes and Hendrix over a span of three days. Their first game, against the Lynx, is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 7 in Memphis, Tenn.
