Centre trounces Millsaps in double-digit victory

DANVILLE, Ky. – In the final weekend on Amend Field kicking off on Friday night, the Centre men's soccer team (1-10-2, 1-4 SAA) started the first of two home games this weekend against the Millsaps Majors (2-11-1, 0-4 SAA). The Colonels unloaded their best offensive performance of the season while also shutting out the Majors, the result playing out to a 11-0 victory.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- It wouldn't take long for the Gold and White to get going, Matthew Seran dropping a beautiful shot into the net in the fourth minute of the contest off a pass from Eumir Rodriguez. Seran would end the day in a hat trick, finding two more goals in the 51st minute and the 72nd minute.
- The Colonels would have a couple other seniors find their mark in the first game of Homecoming weekend, Ethan Noel (12') and Jack Rodes (40') scoring goal in the first half of the game.
- Freshman student-athletes also made their mark in the contest, Amit Shahar nailing a pair while AJ Daniels and Catesby Clay found the back of the net.
- Even Centre's defense got a chance at the net, Taylor Nelson nailing his first and only shot of the contest 17th minute of the game.
- The final goal to be mentioned of the 11 belongs to Sota Ippongi, the junior tallying an excellent solo play that finished with the fifth goal of the contest.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre's 11 goals will go down in the history books, Friday's game marking the biggest goal total and largest margin of victory within the last 12 season.
- Seran's hat trick not only marked the first achievement from the junior, but also the first three goals of his career at Centre.
- The Colonels' 21 shots on goal won't end as the highest total in a single game this season but will tally the second time this season in a 90-minute contest that they collected 20 or more.
- The defense proved just as critical of a component as the offense, only allowing three shots total and one on goal that would be saved by goalkeeper Aidan Hartman

UP NEXT
The Gold and White will look to the end the weekend with a win as well, celebrating their seniors with the final home game of the season on Sunday, Oct. 16. The Colonels will take on Birmingham-Southern on Amend Field for the contest, the ball rolling at 2:30 p.m. ET.
