Colonels drop home volleyball finale to no. 25 BSC

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre volleyball played its final home game of 2022 as the Colonels hosted the no. 25 Birmingham-Southern Panthers. The Colonels took the opening set, but the Panthers took the next three to get the win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The opening set was close from the start and stayed that way for the duration, with neither team leading by more than four at any point. Trailing 21-20, Centre rallied with four unanswered points to force a set point, which they got at 25-22 on a tandem block by Meredith Phillips and Emily Goddin.
- The second set played out in a similar fashion to the first as the lead changed hands, but the biggest advantage on either side was just four. BSC held onto the lead at the end and came through with a 25-21 win to even the match.
- The Panthers controlled the third set as they used a late 8-0 run to create distance on the way to a 25-13 win.
- The fourth set looked like it was going to be a repeat of the third as BSC took a 16-9 lead at the midway point, but the Colonels clawed back to cut the deficit to a point following consecutive blocks by Phillips and Shelby Tirbs. The Panthers regrouped after a timeout and scored three of the next four to take the match at 25-22.
