Centre volleyball earns regular season sweep with 3-1 win at Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Centre volleyball kicked off its season-ending three-game road trip by facing the Rhodes Lynx, who the Colonels defeated in Danville back in September. Centre earned the season sweep with a 3-1 win for their 17th victory of the season.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The Colonels controlled the opening set as they scored the first three points of the match and never looked back, leading the whole way and extending their lead to as many as 11 points at 22-11 before winning by a score of 25-17 as Ally Knueven put home the final kill.
- The second set belonged to Rhodes as it played out in almost opposite fashion. Rhodes scored the first four points and built the lead to ten at 23-13 before taking a 25-20 win to tie the match.
- Rhodes held a small lead for the better part of the third set before Centre used a late 6-0 run to take their first lead. The Colonels forced a set point on an ace by Madi Barron and Isabel Thornton converted the final kill on a 25-21 win for the Colonels.
- In the fourth set, the Lynx grabbed an early 8-4 lead to force a Centre timeout, but after that timeout, neither team lead by more than three the rest of the way as the set delivered dramatics. Trailing 24-23, Rhodes fought off a match point and forced one of their own at 25-24. Brooke Palmer came through with a clutch kill to extend the set, and then did it again two points later to put the Colonels back on top at 27-26. Knueven delivered one final kill to seal the deal on a 28-26 victory to wrap up the match for Centre.
