Centre volleyball drops SAA road tilt at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – After a tough win last night at Rhodes, the Centre volleyball team had a quick turnaround on Saturday as they faced the Hendrix Warriors. A close first set win gave Hendrix the momentum, which they used to win the match in four sets.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The Colonels battled from behind for most of the opening set, but staged a late rally to go up 24-22 on an ace by Emily Gardner. Hendrix fought back to score the final four points of the set and win 26-24.
- Hendrix grabbed the early lead in the second set and kept it until a 4-0 midway through tied the score at 16-16 as Ally Knueven delivered three straight kills for the Colonels. After the tie, the Warriors scored the next seven points and eventually won the set by a score of 25-18.
- In the third set it was Centre who took the first lead and never trailed, holding off every Hendrix attempt at a rally and scoring the last three points of the set to stay alive with a 25-17 win.
- After keeping the match alive with a dominant performance in the third set, the Colonels were unable to maintain the momentum in the fourth as Hendrix gradually extended their lead throughout and won by a score of 25-18.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Knueven tied for a game high with a dozen kills, with Emily Goddin and Emily Sullivan each finishing with 11.
- Centre's .350 hitting percentage in the third set was the highest by either team in a set for the day.
