Centre men drop exhibition contest at Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's basketball traveled to Freedom Hall this morning to face the Bellarmine Knights in an exhibition contest. The Colonels fell to the Atlantic Sun conference champions by a score of 71-34.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
 
- After a tight opening couple minutes, the Colonels got on the board first as Cade Stinnett got to the rack and scored.
- Over the next six minutes, the Knights took advantage of cold shooting and turnovers to score the next 14 points. The Colonels rebounded before the under-12 media timeout as Jaxson Banks and Noah Ring connected on consecutive threes to make it 14-8.
- Bellarmine made three-pointers on three straight possessions to take a 29-12 lead, and after another basket from Banks, the Knights held Centre scoreless over the last four minutes of the half as they extended the lead to 38-14 at the break.
- Chez Moore and Ring did most of the scoring for the Colonels in the second half as Ring knocked down two more shots from behind the arc. In the final minutes, Bryson Merrill and Tyler Bush got into the scoring column, with Bush's three counting as the final basket of the game.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
 
- Ring led the Colonels with a dozen points, followed by Moore and Banks with five each.
- Centre limited the Knights to nine assists for the game and just one made three in the second half. The high-powered Knights managed just 33 points after the break.
- The Colonels held a 5-3 edge in blocked shots.

Centre men's basketball will officially kick off the 2022-23 schedule on Nov. 10 when they host Berea.
