CONWAY, Ark. – After taking down Rhodes by a 4-2 score on Friday, the Centre women's soccer team (11-2, 3-1 SAA) made their way out to Arkansas to take on the Hendrix Warriors (8-4, 2-2 SAA) on Sunday afternoon. The Colonels one-upped their previous performance with an even stronger defensive showing, shutting out the Warriors on a 4-0 final score.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold and White were able to get the offense moving early,
Mills Mullen placing an excellent ball right in front of
Megan Sidaway in the 13th minute of the game. All the junior would need to do was lightly chip the ball to the goal, putting above the goalkeeper's head for the lead.
- After a handful of Warriors saves that kept the lead to one at halftime,
Bella Nelson broke away to push the lead to two only two minutes into the second half off of a pass from
Ava Priest.
- Less than two minutes later Priest would take a strike of her own, finding a shot past the keeper to push the lead to three for Mullen's second assist of the contest.
- Starting goalkeeper
Jonelle Barron would play a big part in keeping the Warriors scoreless in the contest, including a save on the bottom-right side of the net in the game's 60th minute.
- Centre would amount one more score before the 90-minute mark,
Erin Reynolds knocking in a shot after breaking away from a pact of players with the ball.
