Panthers use second half to overcome the Colonels

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's basketball fell by a 65-47 score Sunday afternoon versus Hanover, moving to a 3-3 record.
Rookie Makya Grinter tallied a career-high 15 points, going 5 for 8 from the floor.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers got off to a swift start, leading 6-0 by the first quarter media break. A jumper from Taylor Garret and a long ball from Makya Grinter would bring the Colonels within five points of Hanover.
- Emma Rose Vincent and Natalie Duggins placed consecutive jumpers to ease the Panther's offensive hold. A following lay-up from Grinter evened the score to 15's half-way through the second quarter. Hanover would maintain a slight edge over the Colonels until Anna Thomas landed the most notable basket of the game. The sophomore launched a missel of a buzz beater from the opposing free throw line to hand Centre their first lead of the game.
- Coming out of the halftime break, Hanover initiated a full court press that they would remain in for most of the half. The Panther's added pressure kept the Colonels to just 11 points in the third quarter. Hanover would more than double Centre's offensive numbers, onsetting a scoring run that the Colonels would never recover from.
- Coming into the final period, Centre trailed Hanover 49-35. Bailey Rucker and Duggins covered Centre's fourth quarter scoring but the Panthers would deny a chance of a Centre comeback.
