Centre men drop road tilt at Franklin, 74-52

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Centre men's basketball team crossed state lines for the first time this season as they battled the Franklin Grizzlies, who defeated the Colonels 74-52 behind 16 three-pointers.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Both teams shot well from the outside in the first half, with Carter Baughman knocking down timely threes to keep Centre within striking distance.
- Jaxson Banks came off the bench to bury a pair of triples late in the first half. Another three from Baughman narrowed the Franklin lead to 35-30 with less than a minute left, but the Grizzlies made consecutive long balls in the final minute and took an 11-point lead into the locker room at the half.
- The Colonels went cold to start the second half, scoring six points in the opening eight minutes as Franklin extended the lead to over 20 points.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Baughman led all players with 16 points, 14 of them coming in the first half thanks to four made threes. Cade Stinnett was the only other double-digit scorer for Centre, finishing with 14.
- Pete Knochelmann led the Colonels with nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
- After shooting 6-14 from long distance in the first half, Centre shot 1-13 from three-point range in the second half.
 
NEXT UP
The Colonels will open Southern Athletic Association play with a home clash against Sewanee on Dec. 3. The Colonels only played the Tigers once last year, winning comfortably in Tennessee on Dec. 4, 2021.
