DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre field hockey took part in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Semifinal match versus Marian University on Saturday afternoon. The Colonels edged out the Sabres by one point, advancing them to SAA Championship game.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- After a near miss off the post,
Meghan Speth put herself in scoring position yet again, this time lasering one in, giving the Colonels an early lead.
- Marian answered Speth a minute later. This would be the Sabre's only goal of the first half.
- Just before halftime, senior
Olivia Broyles marked an unassisted goal to bring the score to 2 – 0 entering the second half.
- Late in the third period,
Peyton Gahm marked another point for the Colonels. The sophomore advanced Centre's lead to 3 – 1 entering the fourth quarter.
-Just three minutes into the fourth, Marian placed their second goal of the game, shrinking the scoring differential to one point.

Emily Ritchie rounded out the scoring, placing a goal from an assist from
Abby Brainard. With seven minutes left in the game, the score would sit at Centre four, Marian two.
- Marian would place the endmost goal of the game with 22 seconds remaining in the competition. The final score of the SAA Semifinal game would land at 4 – 3 in favor of the Colonels.

- Centre lead in shots, taking 20 to the Sabre's 14.

Meghan Speth was the leading shooter for the Colonels, taking five. She, Ritchie, Broyles, and Gahm would gather one goal each.
- The Colonels had the edge in penalty corners. They collected ten to the Sabre's seven.

Carlie McKenry and
Kate Helton split time in goal. Helton possessed all of Centre's saves after a notable eight saves in the second half.
