GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Centre men's basketball team returned from the holiday break with the first of two tournament games at Guilford College as they faced the Greensboro Pride. The Colonels fell to Greensboro by a score of 81-66.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Both offenses struggled in the opening minutes. Trailing by five halfway through the opening half,
Marshall Taylor scored eight consecutive points to put the Colonels on top.
- Five straight points from
Carter Baughman gave the Colonels their biggest lead of the night at 28-21 with three minutes to go before halftime, but Greensboro ended the half strong, scoring the last eight points to take a 29-28 lead at the break.
- A 9-0 run put Greensboro ahead by 11 points at the 14-minute mark of the second half as Taylor converted a four-point play to score eight of the next ten points.

Noah Ring's three-pointer cut the deficit to 52-51 with ten minutes to go, but Greensboro scored the next six points, and the Colonels could only get within five the rest of the way as Greensboro shut down every rally.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Taylor delivered another career high with 17 points, his second career high in the last two weeks. Baughman,
Cade Stinnett and
Chez Moore all scored in double figures for the Colonels.
- Despite getting into the bonus early in the second half, the Colonels struggled from the free throw line, going 16-30 for the game. Greensboro went 19-27 from the line, but went 15-19 in the second half to help seal the win.
