DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball had much to celebrate Saturday, earning a pair of wins against Olivet and Spalding to begin their home schedule.
The Colonels (4-2) defeated the Comets (1-1) by a wide 19-1 margin in the opener before earning a thrilling 9-8 walk-off victory over the Golden Eagles (0-2) in the second outing.
GAME ONE: Centre 19, Olivet 1 (5 innings)
- Centre jumped on the visiting Comets early and never let up, totaling 15 hits en route to a blowout victory in the home opener.
Riley McCue began proceedings by clearing the bases on a three-run triple in the bottom of the first.

Abby Duncan,
Sam Rogers and
Sawyer Lecius each delivered RBI doubles before the frame ended with the Colonels ahead 7-0.
- The Colonels brought in five more in the second inning, highlighted by a double to center field from
Kaylen Storms the brought in Duncan. Centre capitalized on some Olivet miscues, as Storms,
Andrea Searcy,
Alana Fullen and Sunny Woske each came in on unearned runs.

Maddison Ellis tripled to right field with one out in the third, eventually scoring on an RBI ground out from Searcy.
- Centre completed the rout with a six-run fourth inning, beginning with consecutive RBI singles from Reily Bentley and
Loran Trent. Ellis then smacked her second extra base hit with a two-run double to center, and Searcy and Rogers closed the affair by driving in two more.
- The hit parade was well spread out, as 12 Colonels came up with base knocks. A total of 14 different Colonels crossed home, as well.
- Searcy tossed four innings, allowing just two hits and one run.
Branan Cobb appeared to toss a scoreless fifth.
GAME TWO: Centre 9, Spalding 8
- The Colonels got behind by three runs in the top of the first inning, but got one back in the bottom as Lecius tripled and scored on an RBI from
Brylin Isaacs.
- Spalding's lead swelled to 7-1 in the top of the third after the Golden Eagles chased Centre starter
Lucy Baseheart.
- Centre chipped away with four runs across the third and fourth innings, including a sacrifice fly RBI from Duncan that brought in
Kaylee Gregory.
- In the fourth, the Colonels began the inning with three straight hits. Lecius drove in Fullen with a single, and then came around on a ground out from Gregory. Duncan delivered her second RBI in as many innings on a two-bagger to center, bringing Centre within 7-5.
- The Golden Eagles added one in the fifth, but the Colonels proved resilient with two of their own in the bottom of the frame. Fullen doubled to left center to bring in
Hailey Watson, and later scored on aggressive baserunning to make it an 8-7 deficit.
- Gregory tossed scoreless sixth and seventh innings to set the stage for the bottom of the final frame. Watson singled on the first pitch of the inning, and Ellis immediately stole second as her pinch runner.
- Fullen hit an infield single and wound up on second after more advantageous running, putting the tying and winning runs in scoring position. Lecius brought home Ellis on a sacrifice fly, and Bentley ended the game by driving in Fullen with a single down the first base line.
- Eight Colonels provided base hits in the win, including three apiece from Watson and Fullen.
