BEREA, Ohio – After a handful of delays due to the winter weather north of Kentucky, the Centre women's lacrosse team (1-1) took on the Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets on Sunday afternoon for the Yellow Jackets season-opener. The Colonels couldn't get their offense going early in the contest, sadly losing the game on a final score of 16-9.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold and White struck early,
McKenna Hulette knocking a shot in the back of the net 26 seconds into the game, thanks to a great look from
Lily Gahm.
- The Yellow Jackets spurted seven unanswered goals after the Colonels struck first, only one of the seven scores holding an assist.
- After the 7-1 deficit, Centre was able to close the game through the second quarter of action. The Colonels were able to close the gap to three on a 8-5 score, Gahm slamming two unassisted goals in the single quarter.
- Centre was able to pace Baldwin-Wallace in the second and fourth quarters of action in the contest on Sunday. Both teams tallied four goals in the second quarter and three in the fourth.

Ella Treinen collected three ground balls in the contest against the Yellow Jackets, leading the team in her first appearance of the season.
- Gahm led the team in the trifecta of goals, assists and in result, points. Sunday marked the second-straight game where Gahm leads the team in points.
- The Colonels were able to efficiently progress the ball better in the second half of action, going 7-10 in the back half compared to 2-7 in the first half of action.
- Centre did improve their caused turnover metric compared to their last game, causing nine turnovers on defense compared to the eight they achieved versus Wittenberg.

The Colonels will kick out to Capital later this week for their next contest, traveling back out to Ohio on Wednesday, Feb. 23 for the third game of their four-game road trip to start the season. The first face-off will commence at 5 p.m. ET.
