Centre men’s lacrosse upended on the road at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio – Centre men's lacrosse suffered its first defeat of the season Saturday, dropping a 17-10 contest against Ohio Wesleyan at Selby Stadium.

The Colonels (2-1) overcame an early deficit against the Battling Bishops (1-0), but the home side turned in a strong third quarter to help secure the victory. Ohio Wesleyan entered the game receiving votes in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Ohio Wesleyan were highly efficient to start the game, scoring five goals on just seven shots to open a 5-1 lead.
- Will Hubbs scored a man-up goal from 15 yards out to make it 5-2 at the end of the quarter.
- That goal set up a massive 6-0 run from the Colonels that spanned just over five minutes of game time. Centre won five faceoffs during that stretch – four of which were from Dylan Croft.
- Hubbs spun past a defender for an unassisted goal to start the second period, and David Caldwell and Ridr Knowlton added two quick scores off assists from Mick Ginnity to level the game at 5-5.
- Momentum stayed with the Colonels as JR Brockman fed Hubbs for his hat trick goal, and Paxton Brown made it 7-5 with a shot high past the keeper's shoulder.
- The Battling Bishops used a timeout and changed goalies at that point, and finished the half on a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 advantage into the break.
- OWU continued the stretch into the third quarter, scoring four more unanswered goals before Brown ended the drought with his second goal of the game.
- Max Speers and Duncan MacDonald added goals in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Battling Bishops.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre was out-shot 45-30 overall and 26-11 in the second half. The Colonels also committed 22 turnovers (16 in the second half) to Ohio Wesleyan's seven.
