DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball fell by scores of 5-4 and 4-1 Saturday against Hendrix, beginning Southern Athletic Association play at home.
The Colonels slide to 4-6 overall (0-2 SAA) while the visiting Warriors improve to 9-1 (2-0).
GAME ONE: Hendrix 5, Centre 4

Sawyer Lecius delivered a three-run triple with two outs in the top of the second, giving the Colonels a 3-1 advantage.
- In the bottom of the frame,
Andrea Searcy struck out two batters and stranded two runners in scoring position to preserve the lead.
- Searcy continued to pitch a scoreless game until the fifth, when the Warriors pushed two unearned across to tie the game.
- Hendrix regained the lead with a run in the sixth, but the Colonels wasted no time in responding. Lecius led off the top of the seventh with her fourth hit, eventually coming around on a sacrifice fly from
Kaylee Gregory.
- The Warriors ended the game with a walk-off double in the bottom of the inning.
- Lecius finished 4-4 with a double, triple and two singles.
- Searcy finished with six strikeouts while allowing one earned run.
Lucy Baseheart pitched 1.2 innings in relief.
GAME TWO: Hendrix 4, Centre 1
- The Warriors plated three runs in the first to put the Colonels against the ropes.
- Centre got one back in the top of the second, as
Brylin Isaacs drove in
Abby Duncan to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- Hendrix starter Kelsey Sample held the Colonels in check for the rest of the game, however, facing just six above the minimum while delivering a complete-game victory.
- Searcy and
Branan Cobb each turned in scoreless efforts in relief.
