BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Centre softball fell by scores of 10-0 and 4-0 Saturday against No. 5 Birmingham-Southern at the BSC Softball Complex.
Centre drops to 4-14 overall and 0-8 in the Southern Athletic Association while the host Panthers moved to 12-4 (5-1 SAA).
The Colonels kept the Panthers off the board through two innings in the opener, as
Lucy Baseheart stranded the bases full in the second. Birmingham-Southern scored twice in the third and added eight in a big fourth quarter that included a grand slam.
Hailey Watson had Centre's lone hit as BSC managed a run-rule victory.
The home side plated three in the second inning of game two, scoring again in the fifth to make it 4-0.
Again, the Colonels recorded only one hit, this time off the bat of
Brylin Isaacs. Centre starter
Andrea Searcy pitched all six innings while scattering six hits, allowing four runs and striking out seven.
The Colonels and Panthers close the series Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
