BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Centre softball closed its series at No. 5 Birmingham-Southern Sunday, falling by a 9-1 score in five innings at the BSC Softball Complex.
Centre ends the weekend 4-15 overall and 0-9 in the Southern Athletic Association while the host Panthers move to 13-4 (6-1 SAA).
HIGHLIGHTS

Lucy Baseheart tossed a scoreless first inning, but the Panthers struck in with two in the second off RBI hits from Izzy Berkopec and Kaylyn Chapman. Berkopec delivered another RBI in the third to make it 3-0.

Abby Duncan and
Mia Tomillo reached with singles in the top of the fourth, and Duncan eventually came around on a bunt from
Kaylee Gregory to cut into the deficit.
- BSC capitalized on an error in the bottom of the frame, scoring five runs – four unearned – to balloon the lead back up to 8-1.
- Chapman tripled for the Panthers to begin the fifth inning and scored on the next at-bat to signal the run-rule victory.
