DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's lacrosse suffered a 12-7 defeat Sunday against Kenyon at South Turf Field.
The Colonels (2-3) drop their third contest in a row while the Lords (4-1) have now claimed both all-time meetings between the two programs.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Kenyon scored the game's opening goal just nine seconds into the contest, but
Will Hubbs,
David Caldwell and
Ethan Hannah provided tallies in a quick span to put the home side ahead.
- The Lords reeled off four straight of their own to make it 5-3 by the end of the first quarter.
- Caldwell wrapped around the back of the cage and hit the back of the net for his second score of the game four minutes into the second period.
- Making his first collegiate start,
Sammy Zickel recorded four saves during the second quarter, and a late tally from Hubbs made it 7-5 in favor of Kenyon at the half.
- Centre doubled up Kenyon in total shots in the third quarter, and also won both faceoffs during the period, but failed to find the back of the net as the visitors took an 8-5 advantage into the final frame.

Gavin Fields went uncovered and scored a goal early in the fourth quarter to bring the Colonels back within two.
- Mike Matteo scored three in a four-goal stretch from Kenyon later in the quarter that helped put the game out of reach.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre out-shot Kenyon 37-32, and also finished with a 42-35 advantage in ground balls.
- Caldwell led the Colonels with three points on two goals and an assist. Hubbs also finished with a pair of goals.

Ridr Knowlton provided a goal and an assist, and
Christian Underhill contributed one assist.
- Fields totaled six ground balls, followed by Caldwell (five) and
Ian Hubbs (four).
- The Colonels claimed 10 of 23 faceoffs, led by seven from
Dylan Croft.
- Zickel finished with 12 saves in the café.
