MT. BERRY, Ga. – Centre men's lacrosse righted the ship after a three-game skid Saturday, defeating Berry by an 11-6 final in the Southern Athletic Association opener at Valhalla Stadium.
The Colonels (3-3, 1-0 SAA) were led by a five-goal performance from junior
Will Hubbs, and a defensive unit that limited Berry (5-3, 0-1) to six goals while forcing 22 turnovers.
HIGHLIGHTS

David Caldwell opened the scoring barely 90 seconds into the contest, finishing an assist from
Ridr Knowlton. Hubbs converted a pair of unassisted tallies minutes later, quickly giving the visitors a 3-0 advantage.
- Centre doubled Berry's shot output in the first quarter, 10-5, and ultimately held a 4-2 lead through one period on the hat-trick score from Hubbs near the four-minute mark.
- Both sides struggled to find the target in the second quarter, including the Vikings putting all 11 shots off of goal.
- The Colonels scored in quick succession just before the half, with Knowlton and Caldwell adding goals seconds apart thanks to a faceoff win from
Dylan Croft.

Noah Malubay got in on the scoring near the 10:30 mark of the third quarter, capitalizing on an assist from
Max Speers to make it 7-4.
- Centre had an answer for every Berry goal throughout the period, with Caldwell and Hubbs finding the back of the net to help the Colonels take a 9-5 advantage into the last frame.

Alex Mozingo won the faceoff to begin the fourth, leading to a goal from
Ethan Hanna off a
Christian Underhill assist. Hubbs tacked on his fifth goal of the outing later in the quarter to seal the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hubbs' five goals matched a season high, and his six total points were second most for the Louisville, Ky., native.
- Caldwell has scored multiple goals in five of six games this season, including three hat tricks.
- Mozingo and
Gavin Fields had three groundballs apiece for the Colonels.

Sammy Zickel had eight saves while earning his first collegiate victory.
