Colonels ride win streak after win over Cardinals

DANVILLE, Ky. – Riding their momentum off the overtime win against Oberlin just three days prior, the Centre women's lacrosse team (3-4) hosted another home contest on Wednesday night against the North Central Cardinals (1-4). The Colonels found success early and rode their wave the entire way through, cruising to a 17-9 victory.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold and White control the first two period entirely, nailing 10 goals in a row to kick off the contest in 25 minutes of action. Madeleine Longmeyer led the squad with three goals during that timespan, all coming from great passes from teammates.
- The two teams would exchange goals for the next eight minutes, senior McKenna Hulette earning two for Centre during that period of time.
- The Colonels would garner some extra padding to their lead to kick off the fourth period, leading 16-4 off of three consecutive scores. That trio of scores would be highlighted by sophomore Lily Gahm, slamming one into the net in a man-up situation.
- The Cardinals would garner some momentum to start the final period, outscoring Centre on a count of 5-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Gold and White were able to maximize their possessions, committing the least number of turnovers in a single game this season with only 16.
- Wednesday's contest marks the fourth-straight game where the Colonels have score 10 or more goals in a single contest.
- After hitting the game-winning goal on Sunday, sophomore Ella Treinen had a career-high five points in the contest against North Central. The Lexington, Ky., native also led the team with five caused turnovers.
- The Colonels had four student-athletes with four goals in the contest (Hulette, Longmeyer and Haley Rice). Longmeyer's total marked a career-high for the junior.
- Centre's defense was suffocating once again this season, forcing the opposing team to commit a season-high 26 turnovers in the contest.
