LEESBURG, Fla. – Centre softball lost to Bowdoin and Washington & Jefferson Monday in its first outing at The Spring Games, taking place at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.
GAME ONE: Bowdoin 6, Centre 2

Lucy Baseheart recorded three strikeouts in the first two innings to start the game on a strong note for Centre.
- Bowdoin plated two runs on a throwing error in the third inning to begin the scoring, and added three more on two hits and two Colonel errors in the fourth.
- Centre got on the board in the fifth, as
Sawyer Lecius singled up the middle to bring home
Kaylee Gregory.
- In the sixth,
Sam Rogers got on base with a one-out single to right field.
Arabella Fowler came on to pinch run, and eventually crossed home to bring the Colonels within 6-2.

Kaylen Storms got on base with a walk in Centre's final at-bat, but the Polar Bears were able to maintain their lead and close out the victory.
- Baseheart totaled six strikeouts in the circle, and
Branan Cobb allowed one run in three innings of relief.
GAME TWO: Washington & Jefferson 5, Centre 4
- The Colonels scored all four of their runs in the top of the second inning, tagging W&J starter Sydney Petrowski for five hits.
Alana Fullen drove in Gregory for the game's first run, and two more scored on a deep double from Storms.
Mia Tomillo followed with a RBI groundout that brought in Lecius.
- A pair of Centre errors helped the Presidents get two runs back in the bottom of the frame. In the third, W&J got RBI base hits from Peyton Eckenrode and Olivia Dewick to tie the game at 4-4 before reliever
Andrea Searcy struck out two to get out of the inning.
- The Presidents took the lead in the bottom of the sixth after loading the bases with the first three batters. After scoring one run, their rally was cut short on a fantastic double play by
Brylin Isaacs.
- Centre managed just two hits on Petrowski after its big four-run second inning, however, and couldn't extend the game despite getting the tying run on base in the top of the seventh.

Centre continues its appearance in The Spring Games Tuesday, taking on Miami University (Hamilton) at 1:30 p.m. and Bates at 4 p.m. at the Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont.
