DANVILLE, Ky. – Coming up on the Southern Athletic Association Tournament next weekend, the Centre women's lacrosse team (8-8, 2-4 SAA) first needed to take on Sewanee for the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon. The Colonels would honor their senior trio of
Lola Duff,
McKenna Hulette and
Sloan Reding prior to the start of the contest, but would eventually fall to the Tigers on a final score of 24-11.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Sewanee would kick off the game with the first score, but not before Hulette would respond with a excellent toss from
Lily Gahm to bring the game back to evens with less than 2 minutes of action played.
- The Tigers would start their momentum with a five-goal run in a span of four minutes, pushing the lead to five in the first period.
- The Gold and White would trade blows with Sewanee throughout the rest of the first period, closing the lead to four after
Madeleine Longmeyer found an open look from
Isa Stumpf to score with 19 seconds left in the period.
Ella Treinen would have two scores of her own during the stretch as well.
- The two teams would continue to go back-and-forth in the second period until the Colonels found three-straight goals to go into halftime. Their three-goal deficit was minimized by the works of Hulette, along with a goal from
Emma Botts in a man-up situation.
- The Tigers came out with the aggression in the second half, putting up seven-straight goals across almost 10 minutes of action to extend their lead to 12.
- Botts would earn the final goal of the day for the Colonels, Stumpf grabbing her second assist of the day with Botts' score.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Lola Duff's 16 saves on Saturday afternoon totals the program record for most saves in a single season. The previous record was set by Natalie Marek in the 2017 season, Duff now holding two of the top three totals with the SAA Tournament still to play.
- Duff's addition against the Tigers also broke a team single season record in saves, a record also originally set in 2017.
- Hulette's hat trick marked the twelfth contest this season the senior had at least three goals in one game.
- Botts' three caused turnovers marked a season-high for the sophomore, having a pair at the end of two games prior to Saturday.
