Gahm breaks program postseason records in SAA Quarterfinal win

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Coming into the 2022 Southern Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Tournament, the No. 6 seeded Centre women's lacrosse team (9-8, 3-4 SAA) faced off against the No. 3 seeded Oglethorpe in the quarterfinal contest. Having won earlier in the season against the Stormy Petrels, the Colonels repeated their success in a 21-8 victory.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Oglethorpe was able to strike first, scoring within the game's first minute to take a quick lead.
- After exchanging blows with the Stormy Petrels, the Gold and White were able to rattle off a pair of scores from Emma Botts and Ella Treinen to tie up the game at 3's.
- Oglethorpe would take the lead after one period of play on a score of 4-3.
- The Colonels ignited in the second period, outscoring Oglethorpe by way of 11 to zero. At halftime, Lily Gahm would have five assists total to break the program's single-game SAA postseason record in that statistical category. The sophomore also slammed a pair of goals in the second period.
- Teammates McKenna Hulette and Haley Rice would both score a hat trick in the second period alone, Isa Stumpf, Madeleine Longmeyer and Botts both putting a shot in the back of the net as well.
- Centre would get the Stormy Petrels to commit eight turnovers in the second period, Hulette credited for the cause on three of them.
- Despite Oglethorpe's efforts to make a comeback, the Colonels would shut down that idea with three-straight scores in the third period's running clock. All three goals would be credited to different players during the stretch.
- The fourth period would be swayed once again towards the Gold and White, the Colonels outscoring the Stormy Petrels in the final period of play 4-2.
- Addie Lewis concluded the contest with a last-second goal, her final score coming unassisted with 27 seconds on the clock.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gahm's nine points in total knocks on the door of another Centre postseason single game record, now setting the most points a player has collected in a single game.
- Hulette's six caused turnovers slides her name in the books as well, breaking the program record for the most in the statistical category in a single SAA postseason contest.
- The Colonels had three players with four or more points (Gahm; 9, Rice; 5 and Hulette; 4), the seventh time they've completed the feat this season.
- The team's nine assists ties the single postseason game record for the program, marking another on their list of accomplishments on Saturday.

UP NEXT
The Colonels will look to get revenge in the SAA semifinal contest, matching back up to two-seeded Sewanee who beat them in the regular season finale. That contest will take place on the Tigers' home turf, the Sunday, April 24 match kicking off at 1 p.m. ET.
