Softball falls in doubleheader to #14 Vikings

DANVILLE, Ky. – After competing in nearby Lexington, Ky., earlier in the week, the Centre softball team (6-25, 0-11 SAA) hosted No. 14 Berry Vikings in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings bested the Colonels in both contests on the Centre Softball Fields with one more contest coming tomorrow.

GAME ONE: Berry 15, Centre 1
- The Vikings were able to strike first against the Colonels, Berry throwing together 11 runs in the first three innings of action.
- Centre's lone run came in the bottom of the third inning, Sawyer Lecius punching a hit back to the pitcher to drive in Hailey Watson, who walked earlier in the inning.
- The other walk that came for the Gold and White derived from the bottom of the first inning, Sawyer Lecius making it to first and trying to gain some momentum for the Colonels.

GAME TWO: Berry 16, Centre 1
- Berry struck first but didn't hold the lead long in the second inning, Mia Tomillo earning an RBI single that brought home Andrea Searcy who doubled to lead off the inning.
- Searchy and the Colonels were able to start well across the first two innings, not allowing six of the first eight Berry batters faced to reach a base.
- Lucy Baseheart was able to come into the game on the mound for an inning and strike out two batters, both of them looking.
- Kaylen Storms was able to secure the final hit of the day for the Colonels, punching a single in the bottom of the third inning.
