BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Centre softball team hit the road for their first game in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament as they faced the top seed Panthers of Birmingham-Southern, ranked no. 5 in the nation. Ultimately the third inning was the largest difference maker as the Colonels fell 8-0.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels recorded three hits in the first two innings, but double plays derailed any chances they had of finishing the rallies with runs.
- In Centre's half of the third,
Sawyer Lecius and
Andrea Searcy found themselves on second and third after a leadoff walk, a passed ball and an error, but the Colonels failed to get any runners across.
- When BSC came to bat in the third, they scored five runs on an error and five straight hits, including a bases-clearing triple. They ended the third inning with a 6-0 lead and tacked on a run in each of the next two innings to seal the win.

The Colonels will face no. 6 seed Sewanee in an elimination game on Saturday, with the first pitch slated for 3:30 PM ET. The Colonels took two of three from the Tigers to wrap up their final series of the regular season.
