DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre men's lacrosse team (7-5, 4-0 SAA) hosted the Rhodes Lynx on Friday night on South Campus Field, the brief moments of hail and rain adding to the intensity of two team undefeated in conference play up until tonight. The Colonels would emerge on top after 60 minutes of game time, maintaining their perfect conference record on a dominant 11-4 final score.
"We focused on playing with relentless effort, discipline and consistency on defense." explained head coach
Grant Zimmerman, "We knew the game plan, so we had to show up and make one play at a time."
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- It didn't take long for the Gold and White to find themselves on the board,
Ridr Knowlton slamming a goal within the contest's first 90 seconds of action for a quick 1-0 lead.
- The Colonels would hold the Lynx scoreless in the first period of action, building their lead to 2-0 after
Max Speers took an unassisted shot to the back of the net.
- After Rhodes replied with their first score of the game to open the second period, Centre would rattle off four unanswered goals to close out the half with a 6-1 lead.
Will Hubbs found his shot three times during that span, all taking unassisted goals through the posts.
- The Lynx would up their offensive pressure in the third period with a pair of goals, but Centre responded with just as much pressure with a pair of scores as well. The Colonels' goals were scored by
Ethan Hanna and
Paxton Brown, their firsts on the night.
- The Gold and White would put the nails in the coffin in the final period of action, outnumbering the Lynx's goals 3-1. The Colonels would see scores from three different student-athletes during the fourth period, including one from
David Caldwell.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman
Sammy Zickel's 15 saves on Friday night marks a career-high for the Medina, Ohio native, his second game of the season with double-digit saves in a Colonel victory.
- Centre's defense was tenacious against the Lynx, the team achieving a season-high 15 caused-turnovers for the third time this season they've ended a contest with double-digits in that statistical category.
- The Gold and White continue their dominance in the circle this season, their sixth-straight game winning the faceoff battle, Friday night being 10-7.

Will Hubbs' four goals notches eight games so far this season the junior has had at least a hat trick.
- The defense's mark in caused turnovers were in part by
Graham Robbins and
JR Brockman, the duo each disrupting Rhodes' offense three times each in the contest.
UP NEXT
The Colonels only have two more contests left this season before postseason play commences, chasing the first seed in the upcoming Southern Athletic Association Tournament. Before they think about that though, Centre will next take on Hendrix for the second of their three-straight games at home to end the regular season. That contest against the Warriors is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 10 with the first faceoff kicking off at 12 p.m.
