BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In the first of their two-game road trip as they near the end of the regular season, the Centre women's lacrosse team (7-7, 2-3 SAA) traveled south to take on Birmingham-Southern for a Southern Athletic Association matchup. The Panthers matched the Colonels pound-for-pound on Saturday afternoon, pushing past them in the second half to beat the Gold and White on a final score of 17-14.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Emma Botts was able to score the first goal of the contest, the great look from
Haley Rice only needing 90 seconds of game time to put one in the back of the net.
- After BSC claimed the lead, Botts once again was able to knock in a goal to keep Centre running with the Panthers.
- After trailing at the end of the first period,
Lily Gahm was able to propel to score back to even with a goal in a man-up situation to kick off the second period.
- The Panthers would rattle off three-straight goals to start the third period, a strong start to the tie presented at halftime.
- The Gold and White responded with a run of their own, matching BSC with three goals to put the score 9-9.
McKenna Hulette would knock in two of the three scores during the run.
- The Colonels would find the lead for the first time since the start of the contest off of a pass from
Mary Margaret Bryant, Hulette slamming her fourth goal of the period.
- After a four-goal run by the Panthers, Centre would fight to bring it to even's at 14 goals each with five and a half minutes remaining. Their three-goal run was led by
Madeleine Longmeyer, her first goal of the day.
- BSC would close out the contest by stringing three-unanswered scores, sealing the lose for Centre.

- Gahm's five goals marks the third time in five contests the sophomore has nailed five or more in a single game.

Addie Lewis and Rice paced the team in ground balls on Saturday, both marking career-highs for the pair of freshmen.
- The Colonels' 36 ground balls puts up a season-high for the program, three more than their contest against Berry on March 4.
- The Gold and White's 26 successful clears marks a season-high for the squad, only needing 34 attempts in the contest.

The Colonels only face two more opponents in the regular season before they gear for the SAA Tournament, first needing to face-off in an out-of-conference matchup in Asbury. Their road trip to Wilmore, Ky., will be a short trip on Wednesday, April 13, the first draw control whistle blowing at 6 p.m.
