Women’s soccer falls in championship match

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – After beating Grove City a day prior the Centre women's soccer team (4-1) took on North Central (4-0-1) on Saturday afternoon in the North Central Tournament Championship. The Cardinals bested the Colonels in the duel, the Gold and White falling on a 4-1 final score.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Cardinals struck first, providing the first half's lone score in the 39th minute.
- The Colonels couldn't hold the offense of North Central, the Cardinals scoring three goals in two minutes of action from the 52nd minute to the 54th minute.
- Mills Mullen put the Gold and White on the board in the second half of the contest, the senior putting one in the back of the net in the 55th minute of action. 

INSIDE THE BOX
- The Colonels outshot the Cardinals in the first half of action, putting up seven attempts at the goal compared to North Central's five.
- Mullen's goal makes it the third-straight contest that the senior has put up two points in a single game.
- The Cardinals' 16 shots in Saturday's game marks the highest total a team has put up against the Colonels so far this season. 

UP NEXT
Centre will get some time off before their next time out on the field, the Gold and White facing off against Denison on Saturday, Sept. 17. That game is scheduled to kick off on Amend Field at 12 p.m. ET.
