Transylvania snaps Centre volleyball win streak in four sets

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Centre volleyball's seven-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday night as the Colonels fell in four sets to a Transylvania squad that just missed being in the most recent AVCA top 25 poll.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- In the opening set, the Pioneers held the Colonels at bay early, not allowing them to get over the hump and take the lead. A late 8-1 run was the key stretch in a 25-16 win for Transy.
- Trailing by four midway through the second set, the Centre attack came alive with six straight points as Josie Grace-Mudd keyed the run with three kills and a block. The set went back and forth until Centre forced a set point at 24-22 on a kill from Brooke Palmer. The Pioneers rallied for three straight points and while the Colonels fought off their first set point, the Pioneers responded with the next two scores to win 27-25.
- Centre put everything together in the third set, taking the early lead and never looking back as they led by as many as seven points following an ace by June Padilla. The Colonels fought off a late charge by Transylvania and extended the match with a 25-20 victory.
- Transylvania used a 7-1 run to take an early lead in the fourth set. Centre rallied to tie the score twice in kills by Isabel Thornton, but the Pios reeled off six straight points to take the lead for good, winning 25-20 to take the match.
