DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre volleyball team faced another ranked squad in the early portion of their schedule as the no. 12 Berry Vikings came to Alumni Gym. Every set was competitive, but they all went the way of the Vikings, who won in three.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening set was the closest one of the contest, back and forth with Centre holding a small lead for most of it. The Colonels grabbed the lead at 21-17 before the Vikings made their biggest rally of the set, scoring eight of the final ten points to win a close one, 25-23.
- Berry grabbed the early lead in the second set and gradually built the advantage until the late stages. Trailing 21-13, the Colonels staged a furious rally, outscoring the Vikings 9-2 to cut the deficit to 23-22 on a kill by
Shelby Tirbs. After a timeout, the Vikings bounced back to take the next two points and win 25-22.
- In the third set, Berry used an early 10-1 run to effectively put the match away, holding the Colonels at bay the rest of the way to take a 25-16 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Isabel Thornton led the Colonels with ten kills and hit .429 for the match. Tirbs had a breakthrough match with five kills and an .833 hitting percentage to go with three blocks to tie for a team high.
