Mequon, Wis. – Opening their Southern Athletic Association (SAA) conference play Saturday, Centre field hockey thumped Concordia Wisconsin. The Colonels, with five scorers across the board, placed six to the Falcon's one.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels hit first, placing the initial goal late in the first period by sophomore
Maggie Will.
- Less than three minutes later,
Jackie Rodriguez laid down the Colonel's second goal off of an assist from
Olivia Broyles.
- Broyles carried on Centre's attacking efforts, nabbing another goal three minutes into the second quarter.
- Coming out of halftime,
Peyton Gahm placed two back-to-back shots for the Gold & White.
- The Falcons got on the board late in the third period, bring the score to Centre five, Concordia Wisconsin one.
- Rounding out the scoring, Centre's
Reese Smith recorded her first goal of the season, setting the final score to 6 – 1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre placed six of their 27 shots on frame, while Concordia-Wisconsin placed one of their three.
- The Gold & White had the upper hand in penalty corners, having 13 to the Falcon's zero.
- In goal,
Carlie McKenry and
Kate Helton split time. McKenry gathered one save in the first half.
- Gahm and Broyles fronted the team in shots, taking six each.
- Leading the Colonels in goals, Gahm placed two of her six shots.
