DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre volleyball team picked up win no. 11 on the year in dominant fashion as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Rhodes Lynx in Alumni Gym.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- After falling behind early in the opening set, the Colonels utilized a 10-1 run to grab the lead and keep it. The Colonels led by as many as 11 points at 21-10 before holding off a late Rhodes charge and taking a 25-19 victory.
Ally Knueven put home consecutive kills to secure the 1-0 lead for Centre.
- The second set saw the Colonels grab the early lead as they slowly extended their advantage for the duration, taking a 20-13 lead on a kill from
Isabel Thornton. Leading 21-17, Centre went for the kill and got it, scoring the last four points to win 25-17.
Madi Barron had two aces in the final four points to wrap up the win.
- The score was tied at 8-8 in the third set before Centre had one of its strongest stretches of the season as they outscored the Lynx 17-3 the rest of the way. The Colonels scored the final six points of the match as Knueven delivered the final kill on a 25-11 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Thanks to ten Rhodes blocks, the Colonels hit just .047 as a team in the first set. In the next two sets, the Lynx could only manage one block the rest of the way as Centre hit .367 in the second set and .393 in the third for a .238 percentage for the game.
- Knueven and
Josie Grace-Mudd each led the way with a game high nine kills.
Emily Sullivan added eight while hitting a team high .368.
- The Colonels held a 37-19 edge in assists, led by
Meredith Phillips, who finished with a game high 22.
- Barron posted game highs with 13 digs and four aces.
