Berea bests Centre in Monday night showdown

BEREA, Ky. – The Centre men's soccer team (0-7-2) traveled out to nearby Berea College (7-2-2) on Monday night, taking the field at the Berea Sports Complex. A first-half goal was the lone score in the contest, the Colonels falling on a 1-0 final score.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold and White were able to get the offense going early, their first two shots on-goal (from Catesby Clay and Luke Morgan) being saved by the Berea keeper.
- Berea would take a kick from almost midfield that would find its way into the Colonels' net in the 28th minute of action.
- Sota Ippongi would find an opening in the defense to take a shot to the bottom-right side of the net, but just close enough to the goalkeeper in which Berea would keep their lead.
- Centre would have a couple more chances for a goal in the final 10 minutes that resulted in saves for Berea, AJ Daniels and Ethan Noel would both send kicks to the bottom left corner of the net.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels were able to put up 24 shots on offense, the most they've put towards an opposing goal in a single game so far this season.
- The Gold and White defense was able to limit Berea on the corners, the first time this season Centre has held an opponent to zero corner kicks in a game this season.
- Monday marks the fifth game this season that the Colonels have totaled either equal or more goals than their opponents in games this season.
