Centre men fall to Vikings in SAA road contest

ROME, Ga. – The Centre men's basketball team played the second game on their four-game road trip as they traveled to league-leading Berry. The Colonels fell to the Vikings by a score of 78-59.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
 
- Centre opened the scoring on the first possession of the game as Marshall Taylor buried a jumper, but the Vikings responded with the next nine points.
- Berry kept the pressure on during the first half, using two more runs of 9-0 to extend their lead into double digits as they took a 42-24 lead going into the break.
- The Colonels played their best ball coming out of the locker room. Taylor, Cade Stinnett and Carter Baughman all got to the rack and scored, and a three-pointer from Noah Ring capped off a 9-0 Centre run to cut the deficit to single digits.
- Following a timeout, the Vikings would score the next ten and never looked back as Centre could only get with 11 points the rest of the way.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
 
- Stinnett led the Colonels with 18 points while also finishing with a season high four steals as the Colonels forced 18 Berry turnovers. Baughman was the only other Centre player to score in double figures, finishing with ten.
- The Vikings shot 58 percent for the game, including 64 percent in the first half as they built their lead. The Colonels shot 35 percent for the game.
 
NEXT UP
 
The Colonels will remain on the road next week as they make the nine-hour trek to Mississippi to take on the Millsaps Majors on Jan. 20.
