Colonels remain undefeated in SAA after dispelling the Lynx

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre women's basketball faced their second conference opponent of the season on Friday evening. The Colonels remain undefeated in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play after overwhelming the Rhodes Lynx by a score of 70-62.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- To initiate the game's scoring, junior Emma Rose Vincent bucked her first of many successes she found in the paint. In the first half alone, the Kentucky native broke her previous career high of 14 points. By the game's end, the Colonel racked up a staggering 24 points.
- For the remainder of the opening quarter, the two teams would keep a tight game, trading the lead three times. In the final minute, Makya Grinter capitalized on a botched inbound play from the Lynx. After Grinter's quick basket, Madison Tremblay placed a quick three to give the Colonels an eight-point edge entering the second period.
- The momentum continued to swing in Centre's direction throughout the majority of the second quarter. Centre's defense would keep Rhodes scoreless for the first seven minutes, ultimately holding the Lynx to a miniscule 18 percent from the paint.
- Out of half, the Colonels were faced with a tighter full-court press from their opponents that slowed their scoring compared to their previous quarters. Centre eventually found themselves in foul trouble, giving Rhodes ample free-throw opportunities. The Lynx went 12-13 at the line, assisting to their even match of Centre's 18 points in the third period.
- At the start of the final quarter, Centre held a 15-point edge over Rhodes. In an attempt for a comeback, the Lynx preformed their best quarter yet, outscoring the Colonels 22-15. Centre's 50 percent from long range allowed them to hold the lead, eventually defeating the Lynx 70-62.
