DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre field hockey hosted non-conference opponent, Mary Washington, for their annual Pink Out game on Saturday afternoon. The Colonels opened the game's scoring but a late goal from the Eagles ultimately closed the score at Mary Washington two, Centre one.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
-The Colonels swiftly opened the game's scoring, placing the first goal less than a minute in. Claire Martin got in the scoring column when she sent the ball back to cage off a deflected shot from Maggie Will. Mary Washington didn't take long to even the score, tallying their first point six minutes later. Neither team would collect a second goal by half, halting the score at 1-1 entering the break.
- Out of halftime, both teams continued with their scoreless stalemate. With just six seconds remaining in the third period, Mary Washington was awarded a, what proved to be a detrimental, penalty corner. Collecting a late third quarter buzzer-beating goal, the Eagles would be the last team to register a point, finalizing the score at Mary Washington 2, Centre one.
