DANVILLE, Ky. – Despite surging in the second half, the Centre women's soccer team closed the regular season with a 3-1 setback to visiting Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponent Sewanee.
The Colonels secured the no. 2 seed in the upcoming SAA Tournament with the result. Centre sits at 11-2-4 overall and 6-1 in the SAA after Saturday's contest.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

Alexis Kronenthal tallied the first goal of the match just 20 minutes into the action. The sophomore intercepted the ball off a Tiger's pass and kicked it perfectly into the bottom left corner of the net.
- Sewanee tallied two goals in the first half of action with scores in the 21st and 30th minutes.
- The Colonels had corner kick opportunities in the 32nd and 41st minutes but did not find any scoring coming from those kicks.
- In the second half, Centre outpaced the Tigers in shots 6-2 and 4-2 in corner kicks. The Gold & White also took two more shots on target in the second frame to tally a 3-1 mark in the final half.

EJ Bryant took a shot on frame just over two minutes in the second half as the Colonels showed a fighting spirit.

Megan Sidaway had two shots early in the second half in an attempt to bring Centre back with one of them going high and the other saved by the Sewanee keeper.

Cara Francke tallied a shot on target in the 57th minute as the comeback effort continued.
- The Tigers scored again in the 70th minute to go up 3-1. Sidaway had one more shot attempt, but ultimately Sewanee held on.

Grace Dutcher's had four saves as the Colonels' keeper. She tallied another 90 minutes in the net.

Megan Sidaway led Centre with three shots each. All three of Francke's shots were on target. It is the most shots on goal in a match this season for Francke.

Alexis Kronenthal's goal was her fifth of the season.
- The Colonels led in corner kicks 7-2.
UP NEXT
As the no. 2 seed in the upcoming SAA Tournament, Centre will host the no. 7 seed. Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps are the squads who are in contention for the no. 7 seed. The first-round contest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Danville at Amend field with a time to be determined.
